Fundraising pilot for Australian basketball clubs

Fund the season without the
door-to-door selling.

No catalogs, no order forms, no cash box. Every athlete shares one personal link, family and friends contribute online, and a live leaderboard turns the fundraiser into a team challenge — done in a single focused hour if you want it.

The pilot is not accepting contributions yet. Planning a team event does not activate a campaign or create any spend.

The problem

Youth basketball keeps getting more expensive. The old ways of covering it are exhausting.

Nationals, travel, accommodation, uniforms and court hire add up fast — and every season the bill lands on the same short list of families. The traditional answers all cost the team something.

Catalogs and order forms

Chocolate, cookie dough, wrapping paper. Someone fronts the stock, families sell door to door, and the club chases the money for weeks.

The same parents, again

When selling stalls, the shortfall lands back on the handful of families who already pay for everything.

The coach runs a shop

Order sheets, cash tins, delivery runs and reminder texts — time that should go into the team.

The shift

Stop selling products. Let the whole community back the team.

There is nothing to buy, store or deliver. Each player reaches their own network — the people who already care about them — so the fundraiser draws from the widest pool a program can tap, not just the parents in the room.

Keep the club day. Make it work harder.

The BBQ, bake sale or raffle can still be part of it.

Run it alongside a Combine, training night, tournament launch or community day. Put the QR code at the door, the live board on a screen, and give people near and far one simple way to contribute.

How it works

Four steps. Simple enough to explain before training.

CourtLab sets up the links and the board from your roster. The players bring the outreach.

1

Pick the team and the goal

Choose a team from your existing CourtLab roster and say what you are funding — nationals, travel, uniforms, court hire. We generate a personal link and QR code for every player.

2

Players share their own link

Each athlete sends their link to the people who already back them — parents, grandparents, family friends, former teammates. One tap, a personal message, nothing to carry or deliver.

3

The board moves in real time

Supporters contribute online through Stripe. The live leaderboard updates as money lands and players climb the rankings — the whole room can watch the goal get closer.

4

Funds pay out to the club

Money is settled to the club through Stripe. Totals, refunds and disputes stay in one place. No cash box, no spreadsheet, no reconciliation night.

Two ways to run it

One fundraising engine. Your choice of pace.

Same roster, same player links, same club payout account, same live leaderboard — whether the team meets for an hour or works through it over a couple of weeks.

60-minute team event

One room. One hour. One team target.

Everyone meets with their phones. CourtLab walks the team through four short outreach rounds while the live board climbs on the screen. Most of a season's goal, reached in a single session instead of weeks of selling.

Best for: a launch night, training session or club event where energy and focus matter.

Self-led fundraiser

Run it on your own timeline.

Give every player their link and keep it open over several days or weeks. The club controls the schedule and sends reminders when they help. Same board, same payout, no fixed event night.

Best for: distributed teams, longer travel drives or clubs that want full control.

Why it belongs in CourtLab

The team is already here.

Your roster, your season and your club account already live in CourtLab, so fundraising is one more tab — not another login and another spreadsheet. Tie a campaign to a real Combine, registered tournament or season goal, and the player links, live board and payment records all stay with the club.

How the pilot is priced

A disclosed percentage of the funds you raise, plus Stripe processing fees — agreed in writing before launch. No upfront fundraising subscription, and contributions are not represented as tax-deductible donations.

What does your team need to fund?
